Classification of medical gloves
The purpose of using gloves is to prevent the hands from being contaminated by stolen goods or microorganisms, to prevent the spread of microorganisms that already exist on the skin or hands, to avoid chemical damage or to reduce injuries from sharp objects
According to the material of the gloves, they are divided into: latex gloves, nitrile gloves, polyethylene (PE) gloves and polyvinyl (PVC) gloves.
Nitrile gloves: It is an ideal substitute for latex gloves. It fits the skin of the hands highly and has super comfort. Suitable for non-sterile operations involving high-risk contact with blood or body fluids; operations involving sharps, handling of cytotoxic substances and disinfectants.
According to the nature of work, it can be divided into: sterile gloves and non-sterile gloves, and non-sterile gloves are divided into clean inspection gloves and housekeeping gloves.
Surgical sterilization gloves: use aseptically. It is mainly used for operations that require high sterility, such as surgical operations, childbirth, central catheter placement, and preparation of total parenteral nutrition solutions.
Clean examination gloves: clean and non-sterile. It is used when directly or indirectly contacting the patient's blood, body fluids, secretions, excreta and items that are obviously contaminated by body fluids.
Housekeeping gloves: clean and reusable. Mainly used in the case of not directly contacting the human body, the cleaning of environmental objects can use housekeeping gloves.
